Spinal Decompression Maintenance Care

drx9000 in san francisco
Spinal Decompression Therapy with DRX9000

We have been providing spinal decompression in San Francisco for around 10 years now. The machine we use is the DRX9000. Prior to this, patients that did not respond favorably to chiropractic care were referred for surgical consultation.

Over the past 10 years we have helped thousands of herniated disc patients return to more normal lives and prevent back surgery.

About half of our spinal decompression patients continue on with maintenance care. They do this because they are happy with the results and wish to maintain them. The frequency of maintenance care varies from once every 3 months to around once per month in advanced cases.

Your spinal decompression doctor will usually have a good idea of what you need from how you respond to the initial intensive care, which is 20 visits over a 6 week period.

As far as what to expect from decompression therapy…some report a complete resolution of their low back pain or sciatica. A small minority report no change at all. And everyone else reports they are much better than they were and glad they did the treatment.

Sure, some patients do not respond to decompression…it’s just the way it is. But you know what? They are still whole and can pursue other treatment options.

If you have surgery you may be disqualified from decompression…so why not try spinal decompression first?

Spinal Decompression Therapy in San Francisco

We have been providing spinal decompression therapy in San Francisco for about 8 years now. The machine we use is the DRX9000, which treats the lumbar spine. We also have a DRX9000c cervical decompression system.

In addition to the DRX9000 systems, we also  incorporate chiropractic adjustments by hand or with an instrument, deep tissue therapeutic laser, massage, core exercises, stretches, and lifestyle modifications as needed.

Our typical spinal decompression patient will have single or multiple level bulging or herniated discs which are evident on MRI. There is often times associated spinal and disc degeneration. Usually, the patient has already tried other forms of back or neck pain treatments such as cortisone, physical therapy, acupuncture, or even failed back surgery.

It is also not unusual for our San Francisco Spinal Decompression Clinic to be the first place a herniated disc patient comes for help. We have an MRI facility directly across the street from our Embarcadero Center location, so we are able to order MRI and have the findings within 24 hours.

The treatment protocol for spinal decompression is anywhere from 18-30 sessions depending on the nature and severity of the neck or low back condition. We are usually able to start right away and the sessions are about an hour long.

Insurance does not cover spinal decompression, but they will often cover some of the ancillary charges such as chiropractic, massage, ice/heat, exercises and exams.  We have payment plans for those that need help.

If you have been diagnosed with a herniated disc or a bulging disc and are not finding the relief you need, you may be a candidate for nonsurgical spinal decompression with the DRX9000 or DRX9000c.

If you live or work near downtown San Francisco we would love to meet with you to discuss your treatment options. If you have an MRI please bring it with you. If not, we can order one if necessary.

To schedule a complimentary consultation at our San Francisco Spinal Decompression Center, call 415-392-2225 and mention this blog post.

Cervical Decompression for Herniated Discs in the Neck

Nonsurgical spinal decompression to the cervical spine has become a very popular treatment option for herniated disc patients. After-all, who wouldn’t want to avoid neck surgery.

DRX9000c Cervical Decompression

The machine we use at our San Francisco Spinal Decompression Center is the DRX9000c. The DRX9000c is the companion to the DRX9000 lumbar decompression system. In fact…they connect to one another.

We have been providing spinal decompression services in San Francisco for over 6 years now and the results have been outstanding. Cervical decompression typically takes about 6-8 weeks from beginning to end. Sessions are an hour long. The decompression therapy itself is 30 minutes on the DRX9000c. Then we do muscle stimulation for 10 minutes. Then, 10 minutes of ice.

Cervical decompression enlarges the disc space, elongates the spine, strengthens the spinal ligaments, repositions the herniated disc, re-hydrates the disc, and gives the herniated disc a chance to repair itself. The muscle stimulation teaches the spinal muscles to work with the spine in it’s new position. The ice helps to reduce pain, inflammation, and muscle spasms. We also incorporate massage, deep tissue laser, and exercise into our treatment protocols.

Does cervical decompression work for everyone we treat?

NO…just the overwhelming majority of them.

Is Cervical Decompression Safe?

YES…the only side effect is occasional soreness.

Is Spinal Decompression Expensive?

It depends what you compare it to. Compared to neck surgery cervical decompression is cheap. Compared to Aspirin it’s expensive. For about the same price as a vacation for two to Hawaii ($5000) you can go through the entire program. A small price to pay to get your life back. We have payment plans with no interest.

Is Spinal Decompression for me?

That’s for you to decide. Whatever you do don’t let someone else decide for you. The only way to know if spinal decompression can fix your disc herniation is to try it for yourself. The worst case scenario is that is does not help and you are out some time and money. The worst case scenario for neck surgery is that you bones are fused together and you are still in pain. Surgery should be a last resort.

What should I do next?

If you live, work, or have the ability to stay in San Francisco for 6 weeks or so you can see us. Otherwise, you can send me your zip code (ebendavis@yahoo.com) and I can locate a DRX9000 or DRX9000c near where you live.

To find out if you are a candidate for the DRX9000c at our San Francisco Spinal Decompression Center…call 415-392-2225. Mention this blog post for a complimentary consultation and assessment.
